Lab Alumni

Melanie Maimon '23 recieved her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on social judgment reluctance. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Bryant University. Her research is mainly focused on identity, stigma, and inclusion and aims to improve our understanding of factors that can prevent or encourage the participation of people with stigmatized identities across social environments. 

Kate Dickman '23 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology. She was awarded the Alice and Walter Phillips Award for Outstanding Thesis and the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award for her honors thesis on how expectations for clitoral stimulation and orgasm shape orgasm goal pursuit for heterosexual, lesbian, and bisexual women. She is currently teaching in Japan through the JET program.

 

Harrison Pauwels '23 received his B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology. He was awarded the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award for his honors thesis on challenging biological justifications for the orgasm gap as an intervention to reduce immutability beliefs. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction at Drexel University.

 

Eleanor Kim '22 received her B.A. from Rutgers in psychology with a minor in education. Her Aresty Project focused on the impact of reading about racial discrimination on essentialist beliefs. She recently received her Masters of Arts in Psychology from Chatham University.

Rebecca Cipollina '22 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on Strategic Sexuality Blindfolding beliefs. She is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS at Yale (funded by NIMH) working with Dr. Wang. 

Rachel Cultice '22 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Rudman and Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on male sexism-confronter role models. She is currently a quantitative user experience researcher at Meta. 

Jessica Philip '22 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology. She was awarded the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award for her honors thesis on racial socialization, vigilance, and mental health among racial and ethnic minorities. She is currently a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at Northern Illinois University. 

Siris Rodriguez '21 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology. She was awarded the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award for her honors thesis on personality traits that signal prejudice to stigmatized groups. 

Analia Albuja ‘20 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on identity denial attributions. She was awarded the prestigious NSF postdoctoral fellowship to work with Dr. Gaither at Duke University. She recently accepted a tenure track position at Northeastern University and will become an Assistant Professor for the Fall 2023 semester.

Kimberly Chaney 20 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on the automaticity of generalized prejudice beliefs. She is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Connecticut.

Ashley Egert '20 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology, as well as the Henry Rutgers Scholar Award, after completing her thesis on responses to disclosures of concealable stigmatized identities. She is currently an assistant clinical project manager at Bioclinica, working on the digital imaging team in oncology.

Emily Kadosh '19 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology, as well as the Charles F. Flaherty Award, after completing her thesis on how lay associations between positive attitudes affect discrimination vigilance and health in White women. She intends to pursue a master's degree in industrial/organizational psychology.

 

Madiha Qasim '18 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology, the Shaw Award, and Henry Rutgers distinction after completing her thesis on perceptions of women's communal behavior at work. She will be entering the industrial/organizational psychology doctoral program at North Carolina State.

Jonathan Vides '18 received his B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology after completing his thesis on women of color's ideological inferences about diverse teams. He will be entering the social psychology doctoral program at CUNY.

Mansi Joshi ‘17 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology after completing her thesis on STEM role model identification. Her honors thesis won the Henry Rutgers Award and the Aresty Award. She was admitted to the doctoral degree program in social/personality psychology at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, and received her degree in 2022. 

Mary Himmelstein ‘16 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on shifting attitudes toward men's professional help-seeking. After a postdoctoral fellow at the UConn Rudd Center for Food and Obesity, she is currently a tenure track Assistant Professor at Kent State University.

Janell Fetterolf ‘16 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Rudman. Her dissertation research examined the dominance penalty faced by sexually agentic women. She is currently working at the Pew Research Center as a Senior Researcher.

 

Solangel Troncoso ‘15 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology after completing her thesis on evolutionary theorizing about gender differences and gender-related attitudes and beliefs. Her honors thesis won the Henry Rutgers Award and the Aresty Award. She will be attending the University of Michigan to gain her doctoral degree in women's studies and psychology.


Leigh Wilton ‘15 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on the consequences of racial and gender diversity for organizations. She is currently a tenure track Assistant Professor at Skidmore College.

Danielle Young was a postdoctoral fellow at Rutgers under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez from 2011-2015. She is now currently a tenure track Assistant Professor at Manhattan College.

Cesalie Stepney ‘16 earner her PhD in clinical psychology at Rutgers while conducting research in the CRIS lab. She then completed a predoctoral clinical fellowship at Yale. Her research in our laboratory focused on the ethnic identity of biracial adults and the perceptions of parents' racial beliefs and attitudes and was published at CDEMP.

Emily Vargas ‘14 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology after completing her thesis on intragroup minority relations. Her honors thesis won the Henry Rutgers Award and the Aresty Award. She graduated from the University of Michigan to gain her doctoral degree in personality psychology and is currently a postdoc at Northwestern University.

Janice Tsai ‘14 received her B.A. from Rutgers with Honors in Psychology after completing her thesis on intragroup minority relations. Her honors thesis won the Aresty Award. She attended the Columbia University's Teacher College to gain her MA in school psychology 

George Chavez ‘13 received his Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. His dissertation research focused on the development of a measure of certainty in race cognitions. He is currently a research analyst at the Sierra Club

Kathryn Kroeper ‘12 received her B.A. with Honors in Psychology from Rutgers after completing her thesis on confronting sexual prejudice. Her honors thesis (now published at Sex Roles) won the Henry Rutgers Award, Abela Award, and the Aresty Award. She earned her Ph.D. in Social Psychology in 2020 at Indiana University. She currently works at Sacred Heart University as an Assistant Professor.

Jessica J. Good ‘11 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation research focused on the consequences of observing confronted and non-confronted sexism. She is currently a tenure track Assistant Professor at Davidson College in NC. 

Corinne Moss-Racusin ‘11 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Rudman (and won the prestigious 2011 Geis Memorial Award from Division 35 of APA) while also conducting research in the CRIS lab. Her research in our laboratory focused on gender roles in relationships and confronting sexism. After a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University, Dr. Moss-Racusin is now an Associate Professor at Skidmore College. 

Julie Phelan ‘10 received her Ph.D. in social psychology (and the prestigious Gordon Allport Prize) under the advisement of Dr. Rudman. Her research in our laboratory focused on gender roles and sexism in close relationships. She is currently a Research Analyst with Langer Research Associates in NY. 

Phillip Handy ‘10 received his B.A. in Sociology and Psychology from Rutgers after an advanced independent research study on multiracial identity development in egalitarian familial contexts. His independent research project is now published in Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology. After joining teach for America, he started the Ph.D. program in sociology at UC Santa Barbara

Daveena Colwell ‘09 received her B.A. with Mabel Smith honors from Rutgers University. Her research focused on gender identity threats in relationships. After that, she enrolled in the RU Masters Program in College Affairs. She is currently an Advising Dean at Columbia University.

Tara Broccoli ‘08 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social/health psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez. Her dissertation examined body disconnect and health behavior. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Mitchell College in CT. 

Amanda Moreno ‘08 received her Ph.D. from Rutgers in social psychology under the advisement of Dr. Sanchez and Dr. Ashmore. Her dissertation examined attachment styles and internet dating. She is currently a tenure track professor at Hudson County Community College in Jersey City. 

Kimberly Brynildsen ‘08 received her B.A. with Mabel Smith honors from Rutgers University. She received her Master's degree at George Mason University in Industrial/Organizational psychology. Her thesis was nominated for a NJPA award and published at Journal of Applied Social Psychology. 

Adam Biec ‘08 received his B.A. with honors from Rutgers University. He received his Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Columbia and has a clinical practice in NY.

Dina Graziano ‘07 received her B.A. with Henry Rutgers honors from Rutgers University. She is currently working with underprivileged youth and plans to apply to graduate school next year. Her thesis is under review for publication

Richard Sheridan ‘06 received his B.A. with honors from Rutgers University. He is working on a joint Masters in Divinity and Social Work at the University of Chicago.

Eric Saltzman ‘06 received his B.A. with High Honors as a Henry Rutgers scholar from Rutgers University. Since graduating he worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kiribati and Belize. Eric received his Masters in Public Communication. His thesis was published in 2008 in Social Psychology. 

Christina Kalinka ‘04 received her B.A. with honors from the University of Michigan. Her thesis was published in Sex Roles. She currently has her Ed. M in psychological counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University and works as a mental health clinician in NY.

Tracy Kwang ‘05 received her B.A. with high honors from the University of Michigan. She graduated from the Ph.D. program in social psychology at University of Texas at Austin in 2007. Her thesis was published in 2007 at Psychology of Women Quarterly.

Kathleen Lentz ‘05 received her B.A. with high honors from the University of Michigan. She is working on her law degree at the University of Michigan. Her thesis was published at the Journal of Social Issues.
